SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREAHOSPICE & PALLIATIVE NURSES ASSOCIATION |
Membership is ClosedDear SFBA HPNA Chapter Member, The National HPNA Board of Directors has decided to discontinue all local chapters by the end of 2024 and transition to an HPNA “State Community” model. While this is sad news for many of us, this change has some positive opportunities. HPNA State Communities will add more flexibility when organizing events and gatherings. You will no longer have to pay chapter dues, and chapter leadership will no longer be required to manage paperwork, annual reports, financial statements, etc. Instead, these groups will be self-led; they will not have a board of directors. All participants can be as involved as they want to be. Additionally, with this change comes a new online community for our state. This will allow us all to connect and network with individuals in our area. HPNA has set up communities for each state, so if you would like to join multiple state communities, you are welcome to do so. If you have paid for, or renewed, your San Francisco Bay Area HPNA dues since January 1st, 2024, you will be refunded your membership. As we close the chapter, we will be hosting a free encore 2 CE educational event later this year. This will be held both remotely and in person. Stay tuned for more details. The current assets in our bank account will be used for donations to non-profits that support excellence in end-of-life care, scholarships, and/or more final celebration events, we have yet to decide. It has been a pleasure serving the San Francisco Bay Area Hospice and Palliative Community for the last 12 years!
